On Sunday 8th December, Toll Gavel Methodist Church held an afternoon of entertainment and refreshments to raise funds for their nominated charity Beverley Community Lift.
The event was due to run alongside Beverley’s Festival of Christmas, alas, due to very adverse weather conditions, the outside market stall event was cancelled the day before. Toll Gavel volunteers and supporters, benefitting from an indoor venue and being made of sterner stuff, decided to continue with their plans and by combining sales of their Charity Christmas card to the amount raised on the day presented the charity with a cheque for over £500.
Sally Knapp & Elaine Turner, key organisers of the event, said “While the day may not have been quite as we intended, we are very proud of our volunteers, congregation, and members of the public for their support and delighted to give Beverley Community Lift this money.”
Fiona Wales, Manager of Beverley Community Lift, says:
"As a small, local charity we rely on help and support from the community, and every penny raised is always very gratefully received as it enables us continue to deliver our much needed services. The money from Toll Gavel Church will be added to our replacement minibus fund to help us provide shopping trips and outings for our passengers for many years to come.”
Beverley Community Lift remains committed to building a more inclusive and connected community, one ride at a time.
