Fitmums & Friends Headscarf Hustle returns taking place at 10.00am on Sunday 8th March 2026 from The Deep in Hull.
This fun and friendly 5k run/walk celebrates the legacy of Hull’s Headscarf Revolutionaries and are delighted to announce that Jessie from the Traitors will be joining the event and giving a speech on the day.
The event is open to everyone, all ages and all abilities, to help raise funds for Fitmums & Friends and the campaign for a permanent statue in honour of the four women who changed safety at sea.
Ticket sales close at 10am on Thursday 5th March 2026 with no ticket sales on the day.
Local charity and athletics club, Fitmums & Friends is hosting the third Headscarf Hustle in March. Open to all, the Headscarf Hustle is a fun and friendly, 5k run/walk in honour of Hull's Headscarf Revolutionaries. This year it takes place along the River Humber starting at The Deep and we invite you to go along too.
After the success of previous events, Fitmums & Friends is delighted to confirm that the third Headscarf Hustle will take place at 10.00 am on Sunday 8 March 2026 from The Deep.
The event will take place on International Women’s Day. Sam Barlow BEM, Chief Officer and founder
of Fitmums & Friends, explains why: “We’re excited to see local people coming together to be active
and to walk or run a mile in honour of each of the four Headscarf Revolutionaries. International
Women’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate these inspirational women and all the women who make
a difference in our lives.”
Fitmums & Friends is also delighted to announce that Jessie, from The Traitors, will be joining the event and giving a speech on the day. Her involvement offers a meaningful way to celebrate the Headscarf Revolutionaries and link the event with International Women’s Day.
Once again we will be welcoming the “ever faithful” Peter Levy from BBC Look North who will be starting the event for the third year.
The event is both an opportunity for people to be active locally and a fundraiser. Councillor Henry of
The Headscarf Revolutionary Management Committee explains more: “The Headscarf Hustle will support both Fitmums & Friends and the campaign for a statue in memory of Hull’s Headscarf Revolutionaries – the four local women who fought to improve safety at sea after the Triple Trawler Disaster of 1968, securing change and saving countless lives.”
Planned in conjunction with The Deep and Hull City Council, this 5K event will be suitable for everyone, adults, children and all abilities. People are welcome to run or walk the 5K at their own pace
(the event will not be officially timed). It hopes to see individuals, families and friends all taking part
together.
Entry is £10 per person (headscarf included) £5 for 5 to 15 years. Under 16s must be with an adult and under 5s go free. Ticket sales close at 10am on Thursday 5th March 2026.
