100 Laps For Rob

A team of Cyclists headed up by Pat Howdle decided to take on the challenge to cycle 100 laps circa 400km in one day. The Team included former rugby league players and firefighters. The "100 Laps for Rob" in memory of Rob Burrows former Rugby League legend who was diagnosed with MND. 

Headed by Pat the cyclists set up camp and started the ride outside North Beverley Medical Centre off Woodhall Way at 4am Sunday 1st March. NBMC being the hub for food stops, hydration breaks, stretching. The cyclists completed the ride in just under 19 hours finishing at 22.54 Sunday night.

Pat commented on completion of the ride, " It's a long way, fortunately the weather was on our side, we were doing 10 lap stints before a drink and food break, that worked exceptionally well. The support crew have been amazing and a big Thank you to North Bar Medical Centre in allowing us to use their car park as a Hub for Food, Drinks, and any Mechanical issues, it all helps to keep us on the right track". 

The news late on Sunday night came through that throw donations and sponsorship they will have raised more than £10,000 for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND in West Yorkshire, you can continue to donate via the link below.

Pat continued, " the support was amazing, the team spirit, getting each rider through those difficult times was incredible, each one of us at times relying on the other to give the support. A big thank you to everyone, I look forward to telling my spin class at 6.30am in the morning, I am sure they will get me through the class, I cannot let them down".
