Pop-up space to help new businesses branch out at busy Flemingate centre
Mon 12th July 2021Small businesses, start-up retailers and local artists are being given the opportunity to open their doors to customers at Beverley’s bustling Flemingate centre.
Wykeland Group, owner of the popular retail and leisure destination, has earmarked an 850 sq ft unit as a dedicated pop-up space to help small companies and independent traders take their first step into physical retail.
The pop-up space is located between Guitar Galleries and hair and beauty salon Vintage & Co and opposite a new Sports Direct and USC store which opens next month. It will give traders and artists a chance to test the waters of retail and introduce their brands to new audiences.
Jo Bridgeman, Flemingate’s Marketing and Events Manager said: “We’re always keen to support local independents as part of the continually developing and evolving mix of retail and leisure outlets at Flemingate, so we’re encouraging start-up brands and creatives to take advantage of the new pop-up space.
“This is a great opportunity for emerging businesses and artists to bridge the online and offline worlds, expand their audience and give visitors to Flemingate a unique shopping experience. “As a result of the pandemic, people are increasingly keen to support local independents and small businesses and our pop-up space will provide a risk-free opportunity for traders or artists to showcase their brand and products.”
Jo added: “We’re happy to talk to people about occupying the unit for limited periods of time that enable their brand to benefit from a physical profile in a high-footfall location.
“Since the re-opening of retail and leisure, we have seen footfall rise to 10% above the equivalent period in 2019 and it would be great to see emerging businesses add to Flemingate’s offer.”
Owned and developed by Hull-based Wykeland, Flemingate is Beverley’s largest-ever regeneration scheme, featuring leading national retail and leisure brands and local independents. It is also home to East Riding College’s Beverley campus, an 80-bed Premier Inn hotel, six-screen Parkway digital cinema and 130 homes.
