Further education rolling enrolments
Thu 13th November 2014Young people who would like to start a new course right away can take advantage of a range of qualifications on offer now at East Riding College.
The further education courses are available from entry level to level three (A-level equivalent) at the Beverley campus. All 16 to 18-year-olds will have access to English and mathematics qualifications in addition to their main course.
Vice-Principal Andrew Wren said: “There are still many people who are not in education, employment or training at this time of year, which is why we put together this offer.
“These could be people whose plans to secure employment after year 11 have not worked out or perhaps they have finished a seasonal job in recent weeks and are thinking about what to do next.
“This range of courses represents our most comprehensive rolling enrolment offering and will really help people who want to get a job or progress in education come next September.”
The range of full and part-time courses includes accounting, construction, early years, foundation studies, hair and beauty, hospitality and catering, media, motor vehicle, personal success programme, sport and public services, and travel and tourism.
Traineeships are also available and are aimed at people aged 16 to 24 who are keen to work but who need support to get an apprenticeship or job.
These short courses last up to 20 weeks and will help by giving learners work experience and skills to put on their CV. The range of traineeships includes business, construction, health and social care, hospitality, manufacturing, motor vehicle, retail and customer service, and sport.
