Free broadband workshops

Tue 7th October 2014

The Broadband East Riding Business Support Programme is encouraging local business growth by helping businesses to learn about, and exploit, the opportunities that digital technologies and high-speed broadband can offer.

The programme provides a range of workshops which have been designed to help businesses get the most out of being connected.  Support also includes the expertise of a dedicated business advisor providing one-to-one guidance and advice. Businesses who are registered with the project can also receive bespoke business advice in the form of Search Engine Optimisation Audits or IT Diagnostic Reviews, both of which provide a report and action plan to take forward.

Councillor Jane Evison, cabinet portfolio holder for economy, investment and inequalities, said: “Having access to the internet is an important aspect of modern life with many of us using it on a daily basis to keep in contact with family and friends or commercially, with many businesses requiring a secure, reliable and faster connection in order to compete and trade.

“The Broadband East Riding business support scheme will help eligible businesses get the most out of modern technology and embrace the opportunities presented by high-speed broadband.”

The workshops being provided this autumn focus on social media, search engine optimisation and cloud computing and will take place in Beverley on the following dates.

Social Media Basics for Business - Tuesday 11 November from 9.30am-1.30pm

Search Engine Optimisation - Tuesday 18 November from 12.30pm-4.30pm

Facebook for Business - Thursday 13 November from 9.30am-1.30pm

Twitter for Business - Thursday 20 November from 9.30am-4.30pm

LinkedIn for Business - Tuesday 25 November from 12.30pm-4.30pm

Cloud Computing - Thursday 27 November from 9.30am-1.30pm

Places on workshops are free, but priority will be given to businesses that have registered with the programme.

The project will see a total investment of £14m by December 2015, including grant funding from both BDUK of £5.57m and from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of £4.4m.
