Butt Farm Caravan and Campsite Opens

Oly White and Jen Johnson have opened a new caravan and camping site in Beverley.
What’s more, this site is on a traditional grass and arable working farm of 180 acres, which is also home to a herd of cows and calves!
Farmer Oly and Business Studies graduate Jen are both keen campers who have always dreamed of running their own campsite.
They have been tenants at the farm since 2014 and have been planning ways of incorporating their passion for camping alongside their passion for farming ever since, especially as they recognised there is a need for a caravan and camping site in Beverley.
They identified disused farm buildings which could be converted into a modern shower and toilet block, utility room and dog shower (!), and applied for planning permission, which was granted last year.
They converted the old farm grain silo into a recycling area and use sustainable methods of heating and lighting where possible. A new road was built for access and the first guests welcomed at Easter after 8 months of hard work!
At the moment, the site has 30 pitches including 12 hard standings and 6 electric hookups and welcomes tents, caravans and motorhomes, but Oly and Jen are keen to extend the site over the next few years and even offer glamping accommodation!
The site is 2 miles from the centre of the historic market town of Beverley, and ideally located for exploring the East Yorkshire Coast, the Yorkshire Wolds, York and Hull.
A public footpath runs through the farm which links up to the popular Beverley 20 & Beaver Trail walks. Jen and Oly are keen on attracting more tourists to the area especially as Beverley is becoming known as a town of festivals and with Hull City of Culture 2017 on the horizon.
