A piece of Beverley history
Thu 12th February 2015If you want a piece of Beverley history of your own, then head down to the Minster at the end of February and pick up one of their chairs.
Yes, Beverley Minster is replacing 600 of their chairs after they were deemed unsuitable for a public venue, and is giving the public the opportunity to take one or more of them home with them.
The first batch had been in the Minster for 40 years, and have been repaired on several occasions by the vergers, with the glue that holds the chairs together having aged considerably. They are high-quality leather-cushioned chairs, as well as being a part of Beverley Minster's illustrious history.
A second batch of chairs which are in better condition and are still currently in use will be available to members of the public for a donation, at the end of February.
The chairs were initially bought, thanks to fundraising, in the 1970s.
