UNITED IN TIMES OF NEED

A new mutual aid group has quickly formed in response to the situation surrounding the virus COVID-19. Local Parish Councillor Jackie Heffer and Annie Kirkman of She Productions at ERT, both of whom are heavily involved in the community have joined forces to create ‘Beverley COVID-19 Mutual Aid.’

Jackie, one of the founders of the East Yorkshire Foodbank, Chair of the East Riding Neighbourhood Watch, and one of
the instigators of the Cherry Tree Centre Stroke Club, is not shy when it comes to work in the community. In times of need
people come together, and the current situation is no exception.

With many people going into self-isolation either alone or together with their household, there are a large number of
the community who will need the help and support of those around them.

Beverley COVID-19 Mutual Aid will provide just that - help and support for others by uniting those people who wish to lend a
hand.

If you need assistance yourself, contact the group giving them your telephone number or email address telling them what assistance you need whether it’s something as simple as putting the bins out to walking the dog or food shopping.

Various community groups and organisations have come together including Age UK, Community Lift, GP Surgeries and
the East Yorkshire Food Bank; all ‘go to’ groups that support the local population.

Beverley COVID-19 Mutual Aid is maintaining a positive attitude and keeping smiling whilst being prepared for the weeks
ahead.

It is a fabulous community response to unprecedented circumstances, that hopes to provide an additional layer of support to
those who require it using the resources available to the community.
