Transforming the Town exhibition comes to the Beverley Guildhall
Thu 12th March 2020A new exhibition called Transforming the Town opens at the Beverley Guildhall this March.
The exhibition will use old photos alongside more recent ones to form a timeline which reveals some of the dramatic transformations that have taken place in Beverley over the years.
Transforming the Town will run from Wednesday, 18 March until Friday, 17 July with the Guildhall open from 10am-1pm every Wednesday and 10am-4pm every Friday (until Friday, 1 May) and then 10am-4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Kloskk Tyrer, attendant at the Beverley Guildhall, said: “It is well known that we have a huge collection of old photos of Beverley at the Guildhall. However, we are also very fortunate to receive a continuous supply of more recent photographs which residents of the town – who enthusiastically record all the changes that take place – have donated to us.
“Without these more recent contributions it wouldn’t have been possible to compile this exhibition. There have been some remarkable changes across the town over the years, especially in the former industrial areas around Flemingate and Beckside.
“If you’re relatively new to Beverley, here’s an opportunity to see how the town once looked and how things have changed. And if you’ve lived here for longer than you can remember, then this exhibition will bring back some memories!”
The Beverley Guildhall is located in Register Square, next to the former post office and admission to the building is free.
