The Art of Medical Illustration at the Treasure House: a talk by Annamaria Dutto
Wed 30th October 2019The Treasure House will be hosting a fascinating talk by successful medical illustrator, Annamaria Dutto, on Saturday, 9 November.
The event will present an interesting insight into the little-known profession of medical illustration. The artist will describe how she became involved in this area of work and talk about her amazing projects and her special interests.
Annamaria will show how a medical illustrator’s role is to create visual images that cleverly communicate medical and biological information to a variety of different individuals from medical professionals to students and of course patients.
Education officer Sarah Hammond says : “It goes without saying that someone working in this field needs illustration and visual design skills, but it may surprise some that the artist also needs a good knowledge of biology, anatomy and physiology.
“Medical research has to be carried out in order to produce the images commissioned for medical text books as well as publications and pamphlets for patient information. You are invited to come along, find out more and ask questions.”
The talk will take place on Saturday, 9 November from 2pm until 3.15pm, in the Education Room of the Treasure House. Tickets are £5 per person and can be obtained by calling the booking line on 01482 392699 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm) or by visiting www.eastridingmuseums.co.uk/whats-on
