East Riding’s Young Mayor, Noureen Absinsanooj, has been presented with her badge of office by the Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor Linda Johnson.
Noureen became East Riding’s first Young Mayor earlier this year and she will help ensure young people are heard and meaningfully involved in civic and public life.
Councillor Johnson congratulated Noureen on becoming the first Young Mayor at the presentation in the Council Chamber at County Hall. Councillor Johnson said: “I’m delighted to be a part of this significant moment for East Riding and its young people, as our Young Mayor receives her badge of office and attends her first civic event. I know she will inspire other young people and be excellent in her role representing them at civic events.”
Following the presentation, Noureen accompanied the Chairman of the Council to her first official engagement - a Citizenship Ceremony at Champney Treasure House in Beverley.
She will attend a number of civic engagements including Armed Forces Day, the Civic Christmas pantomime and the Chairman’s Awards during her two years as East Riding’s Young Mayor.
