Pupils across East Riding have today, Thursday 20 August, received their GCSE results.
Over 3,300 pupils from 18 secondary schools in the East Riding have collected their results.
Councillor Victoria Aitken, Cabinet Member for Children, Families, and Education, said: "Congratulations to all of our pupils getting their GCSE results.
"I hope every student achieves the grades they worked hard for, and they can now look forward with confidence to the next stage of their journey, whether that is further education, training, or their chosen career.
"A big thank you to the dedicated and hardworking teachers, support staff and education professionals for the support they give in helping every young person achieve their very best."
Gavin Chappell, Headteacher at Beverley Grammar School said: “We are exceptionally proud of our Y11 students, they have achieved some amazing results and, more importantly, we have seen them grow as a cohort of confident, ambitious, resilient and empathetic young adults. Whether progressing into Beverley J6 next year or starting college or an apprenticeship, we wish them the very best of luck.”
Mr David Perry, Headteacher of Longcroft School and Sixth Form, says, “We are so proud of all our pupils who today have seen their hard work and determination pay off with some brilliant exam results. Their achievements in all areas of school are a great credit to a very special group of young people and the wonderful support they have received from our dedicated staff and families. As they now embark on a wide range of exciting next steps, we wish them all every success. It has been another great year for the school which is now officially the most well attended secondary school in England under the government’s recently published DfE similar schools report. This wider commitment shown by our children continues to make a real difference in all that they achieve."
Steve Ostler, Headteacher at Hornsea School said: "As a fully inclusive school, we are particularly pleased to see further evidence of the progress being made across the whole cohort, including a continued narrowing of the attainment gap for our disadvantaged students. We are delighted that so many of this year’s Year 11 cohort will be continuing their studies with us in the Sixth Form, and we look forward to seeing what they achieve next."
Results remain provisional until the Department for Education issues more detailed examination results later in the year.
