Yorkshire Cavalry Returns to Beverley Racecourse for Queen's 90th Birthday
Wed 20th April 2016On Thursday, 21st April, troops from the Queen's Own Yeomanry will be welcomed at Beverley Racecourse to mark the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
This image from July 1953 is of Major Jack Lee White of the East Riding Yeomanry, leading the parade on his horse during a trot past to celebrate the Queen's coronation.
The QOY Reservist Light Cavalry Reconnaissance Unit, otherwise known as the the 'Yorkshire Cavalry' will bring three of their armed vehicles for racegoers to have a look around before racing begins at 3pm.
Two riders in traditional 1950s uniform will escort the runners to the start, where mezzo soprano Lucy Stabler will lead a sing-along of the National Anthem.
