Wedding vow renewal at St Mary's
Tue 3rd February 2015Loved-up couples are being invited to renew their wedding vows at St Mary's Church in the week beginning Monday 15 February.
Services will be held throughout the week, at all times of day, and each one will last 20 minutes. Each couple is allowed to bring up to 20 guests to celebrate with them. The services will take place in the chancel, which will be decorated with candles and flowers.
St Mary's vicar, Reverend Becky Lumley, officiated over 34 couples in a similar event last year and she hopes this year's celebration will also see a good turn out.
"It was lovely last year and so moving," she said. "Couples came with all sorts of experiences and history, and they took time to remember and give thanks and renew their vows as husband and wife. There were a lot of lovely stories, and it was touching to see couples renewing their wedding vows.
"Some were married 40 years ago and others wanted to mark special anniversaries. One lady surprised her husband, who knew nothing about it until the service."
There is no charge for the service, but it is hoped couples will make a donation to the church.
