Website Offers Help To Those Looking For Post 16 Education Training And Apprenticeship Opportunities

Help is at hand for young people across the East Riding who may be unsure of what post-16 training, education and apprenticeship opportunities are available following their recent A level or GCSE results.

The >log on | move on> website, developed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in partnership with Hull City Council, schools and education and training providers, is a one-stop-shop for all young people from years 8 to 13 to help plan their journey towards the world of work.

Young people and their parents/carers can research education and training opportunities, use the information and inspiration pages to help plan their next steps and view a calendar of careers and open events.

They can also create an account to make applications, record transferable skills, write a CV and learn vital techniques for success while up-to-date apprenticeships and vacancies from employers in the East Riding and beyond will also be available.

Councillor Victoria Aitken, portfolio holder for children and young people’s education, health and wellbeing, at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “We know this can be a particularly difficult time for some of our young people who may be disappointed with their exam results and because of this, are having to rethink their future learning and education plans.

“It can be quite a daunting task but this is where the > log on | move on> website opens up a world of what is possible for young people planning for, and deciding what education and training pathway to take post-16.

“It can help them on their journey into the world of work with information and also signpost them to local employers and local job opportunities.”
