Walk on hot embers and broken glass for local hospice care, sign up today!
Fri 30th August 2024Dove House is hosting its annual Fire & Ice Walk and they are encouraging you to take on the challenge while raising vital funds for the hospice. The event will be held at Dove House Hospice on Chamberlain Road, Hull on Thursday 3rd October. Spectators are welcome so bring your friends and family for a great evening.
Firewalking is the practice of walking barefoot on hot embers at a temperature of up to 1200ºF (that’s 650 ºC!). After a comprehensive training seminar from UK Firewalk, you will be led out to the fire and walk safely across the burning embers! Glass walking is also known as “Ice walking” and is completely different to fire walking. Hundreds of broken and sterilised bottles are laid out, then you place your foot on the razor-sharp glass and walk confidently across.
Vikki Fitzgerald, Individual Challenge Fundraiser from Dove House Hospice said “We rely on our local community to help us raise the money we need to care for our patients and their families and taking part in events like this is a great way to support us. We’re really looking forward to the Fire & Ice Walk. The atmosphere will be great and we look forward to people joining our team of dare devils – all raising much needed funds for the hospice – as they hot foot it over the coals and carefully tread across broken glass”.
Don’t get cold feet, sign up today!
