Top Tourism Awards finalists announced - East Yorkshire's Top Ten!

The White Rose Awards run by Welcome to Yorkshire have unveiled the shortlist of this year’s finalists, judges for the prestigious Awards have revealed that their decisions have been tougher than ever.

The awards, which are the biggest celebration of tourism in the UK recognise the very best businesses in Yorkshire. The 17 categories cover everything from hotels to holiday parks, pubs to producers and arts to attractions. 

Hull and East Yorkshire have 10 local businesses on the shortlist,

Elaine Robinson, owner of Broadgate Farm Cottages, said:

“We are delighted to be shortlisted again for the self-catering award, Yorkshire is such a huge area and packed with great businesses, It is a real honour to make the shortlist.

We gained a Highly Commended last year and have made several improvements over the last 12 months so we are pleased to have another opportunity in the White Rose Awards. Good luck to all the other businesses shortlisted from our area!”

Restaurant of the Year   The Westwood Restaurant, Beverley

Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year   Broadgate Farm Cottages, Beverley

Small Attraction of the Year   Burton Constable Hall & Grounds, Skirlaugh

Small Hotel of the Year   Tickton Grange Country Hotel, near Beverley

Taste of Yorkshire Award   Wold Top Brewery, Driffield

Visitor Information Award   Humber Bridge TIC, Hessle  &  Bridlington Tourist Information Centre

Colin Mellors, chair of the White Rose Award judges, said:

“Yorkshire’s tourism businesses are truly exceptional - bringing large numbers of visitors and income to the region and enhancing our reputation at home and abroad. 

“The sector goes from strength to strength and many of its established stars feature on this year’s White Rose shortlist alongside some welcome new additions. What they have in common is their firm commitment to ensuring guests enjoy unrivalled hospitality, produce, facilities and experiences.  The fantastic scenery and heritage provide the icing on the cake.

“With so many strong entries, shortlisting was very difficult this year.  Choosing the eventual winners is going to be really tough.”
