Tonight's Processed Pea sponsored by Just Beverley
Mon 4th June 2018Just Beverley is delighted to be sponsoring England's longest-running folk club in the same venue this month (June 2018) when three local female singers will take to the stage at The Processed Pea at The Light Dragoon in Etton.
Edwina Hayes, from Driffield, writes her own songs, has a charming stage presence and the voice of an angel and has won a reputation as a true natural talent of gentle folk-Americana. She has opened numerous shows for Jools Holland and Van Morrison as well as her own gigs, playing stages everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall. Edwina numbers Michael Parkinson and Mike Harding among her fans and the title track of her album Pour Me A Drink was covered by Nanci Griffith who calls her ‘the sweetest voice in England’.
Carrie Martin is a British acoustic guitarist, singer and songwriter from Hull. Having given up music to raise a family she returned to writing, playing and singing encouraged by the noted acoustic guitarist Gordon Giltrap – she cites her meeting Gordon as the most important thing that has happened to her in her musical career. Her guitar playing has attracted sufficient attention for her to be recruited as an endorsee by Vintage guitars. Influenced by the likes of Eva Cassidy and Ann Wilson from Heart, her writing and performing style nevertheless defies categorisation.
Lucy Marshall is an acoustic singer-songwriter from Hull. Her eclectic mix of covers and original material was first brought to people’s attention when she started performing at only 15. Lucy has supported several well known artists such as Lucy Ward, The Long Notes, Roddy Woomble and Chantel McGregor, as well as playing at well established festivals including the Main Stage at Cornucopia, Cambridge Rock and Blues, The Great British Blues Festival and The Great British Folk festival, of which she packed out the Skyline Stage, late last year. She was recently seen on stage at Hull's New Theatre in 'The Producers'.
Doors open at 7.30pm on June 4th with the performances beginning at 8pm. Tickets available on the door - but this is sure to be a popular evening, so get there early!
