Taking inspiration from the iconic London Eye, the first plans in April have been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council to have a ‘Beverley Eye’ built as the town looks to the future with 2020 vision.

The proposed Eye will be sited pride of place in southern Beverley on the new development as part of the Park and Ride Centre. It is hoped the structure will generate more tourism and provide a bird’s eye view of the area to visitors
either before or after they have seen our beautiful town. Local Mayor and Councillor Duncan Jack said “This could be a real scoop for Beverley! We never saw this coming.”
The Beverley Eye will be a big part of Beverley’s ‘2020 Vision for the Future’ and similar to other monuments like the Angel of the North, will be a symbol of times to come. The central ‘eye’ to the wheel will be constructed and erected in such a fashion that it will act as a giant sundial; a centrepiece that will signify both the past and the future in one elaborate engineering
structure.
