Sat 25th May 2024Tesco Community Grants have funded thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping schools, junior sports teams, foodbanks, charities and community groups. Since 2016 almost a hundred local projects voted on in Tesco’s Beverley store have received over £190,000 in grants.
In our local area the following groups will each benefit from the latest round of grants:
· Beverley Rugby Union Football Club received £1500 for training and match kit replenishment
· East Riding Hygiene Bank received £1,000 to help provide families in need with hygiene products.
· The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution received £500 to help local farmers.
Carol Innes, Beverley RUFC President, said: ''We would like to thank Tesco Beverley and all their wonderful customers who voted for Beverley RUFC. With more children joining our club wanting to enjoy a friendly, community team sport, the pressure on kit has been bigger than ever this last season. This grant from Tesco Stronger Starts will ensure all our players get the equipment they need to enjoy safe, fun rugby at Beaver Park. Thank you.''
Jackie Heffer, founder of East Riding Hygiene Bank, said: ''Many thanks to all of Tesco's customers who voted for us. This money will make a tremendous difference in helping us to help families in need in our local community.''
Sally Conner, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution Regional Manager, said: ''RABI are delighted to receive this donation from the Beverley Tesco Superstore. Our regionally based team provides financial, practical and emotional support to farming people, and we are truly thankful to shoppers for choosing to support their local farming community in this way.''
