Success for the Tesco National Food Collection!
Fri 29th November 2019The Tesco National Food Collection for East Yorkshire Foodbank took place in the Tesco (Beverley) store from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd November.
Richard Newby, Development Manager at the Foodbank said: ''East Yorkshire foodbank are pleased to confirm that the Tesco National Food Collection was a massive success. We collected the amazing amount of 1,678kg of food during the 3 day collection. This equates to 205 single person food parcels, or 1,842 meals. In addition to the food donations, we also received cash donations totalling £850. Tesco nationally will also add 20% to the food collection. These donations will allow the foodbank to continue its work throughout the Winter and into the Spring of next year.
The trustees and volunteers of East Yorkshire foodbank would like to thank all those who donated to, or helped with the collection this year. The generosity of the local community in and around Beverley is amazing. It is really good to see local people helping other local people during the current difficult times.''
Tesco Community Champion Dave Ryley added: ''We are delighted that the collection was such a success and we are pleased to support the Foodbank throughout the year through our store's permanent collection point. Tesco also top up all donations to this by 20%. Many thanks to all of our customers for their incredible generosity''
