Students at East Riding College in Beverley can now sell holidays and cruises from over-50s specialist Saga Travel for the first time.

Travel and tourism learners at the College get first-hand experience of the industry by booking holidays, National Express trips and concerts plus other travel related services and products for real paying customers.

Saga has recently extended its business from being solely direct sales to working with external travel agents, and New Horizons, with an information point at the Beverley campus, is one of those to benefit.

Travel shop manager Katrina Diamantis said: “I’m really pleased that New Horizons has been selected to offer Saga holidays.

“There is a huge market for people aged over 50 and they now account for the majority of travel and tourism expenditure in the UK so we’re looking forward to booking Saga holidays for people in this age range from the Beverley areas.”

Andrew Strong, chief executive of Saga Travel, said: “Our current customers like dealing with us direct, but there are those that prefer to pop into their local travel agent, and this new initiative means we will be offering greater choice to some three million over 50s who book through a travel agent each year.

“Booking a Saga holiday or cruise through a travel agent will give customers all the added extras that those who book with us directly enjoy – and the security that we will offer a great experience at excellent value.”

The Beverley information point is open Tuesday and Friday 9am to 4pm. Alternatively, email travelshop@eastridingcollege.ac.uk or call 01262 455021.
