Starring roles in The Snowman at Beverley Minster for three local youngsters
Fri 29th November 2019Carrot Productions bring The Snowman to the big screen at Beverley Minister for the second year running for three performances on 11 December. Once again, they also provide local young soloists with the opportunity to enjoy the exhilarating experience of singing alongside the live professional orchestra which accompanies all Carrot Productions performances.
All three will perform the much-loved Walking in the Air solo which lies at the heart of The Snowman. 13-year-old Emily Wood takes the role at the 1.30pm performance, Poppy Cunningham (11) at 4.30pm, and Rose Wilson (12) at 7.00pm.
This year, alongside The Snowman, Beverley audiences will be able to enjoy A Donkey’s Tale, a stunning animated film specially commissioned by Carrot Productions, with original music by Daniel Whibley. Set amidst the wild landscape of Connemara in the west of Ireland, it tells the heart-warming story of Dillon, an ordinary donkey with an extraordinary dream that takes him on a life changing journey.
As well as delivering these two absorbing stories to their audience, Carrot Productions’ performances also include other key elements, which make them very popular with parents as well as children:
- An orchestra drawn from some of the top musicians in the country, many of whom are members of such orchestras as The Hallé and the BBC Philharmonic.
- Every performance features a young soloist local to the area who performs the Walking in the Airsolo. Auditions are held in the Autumn, with local Music Hubs and Cathedral Choirmasters helping to find suitable soloists to take up this superb performance opportunity.
- A rousing Christmas overture
- A fun introduction to the orchestra
- A visit from the organisation’s very own snowman!
This is the seventh annual tour by Carrot Productions, who are recognised as the most prolific performers of The Snowman film with live orchestra in the world.
