St Nicholas Primary School pupils see Armed Forces day go ahead
Fri 26th June 2015School children at St Nicholas Primary School on Holmechurch Lane have helped to secure Beverley Armed Forces Day.
The 7th annual celebration of the armed forces was under threat due to a lack of funds this year, before chairman, David Elvidge made a call for help from residents and local organisations.
Children at the school took part in a non-uniform day, dressing instead in clothes of their own choosing in blue, red and white.
Collectively they raised £151.15, which was presented to Mr Elvidge by pupils Alyssa and Noah at a celebration assembly at the school.
The organisers of the Armed Forces Day have seen a great response from Beverley’s residents and organisations in seeing that the day goes ahead.
The celebration, which takes place on Sunday 5 July, will see a re-enactment of scenes from the Napoleonic era to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Waterloo.
