Sir Ed Davey Visits Beverley And East Yorkshire Coast

Sir Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, visited Beverley and East Yorkshire to bolster support for Councillor Mike Ross ahead of the upcoming mayoral elections.  

The election for the new Hull and East Yorkshire Mayor will be held on Thursday 1 May 2025.

The new mayor will lead the new authority and oversee decision making on a number of different issues which include housing and transport. .

The candidates who have so far been declared are Mike Ross - Liberal Democrats, Anne Handley - Conservative, Margaret Pinder - Labour, Luke Campbell - Reform UK, Rowan Halstead - Yorkshire Party and Kerry Harrison - Green

Whilst in the area Sir Ed Davey took the opportunity to visit the East Yorkshire Wild Life Trust to get the latest information following the potential disaster in the North Sea earlier in the week.

Sir Ed Davey commented, " This is a beautiful part of the world, it is great news to hear that following the recent collsion in the North Sea, the East Yorkshire Wild Life Trust can confirm a disaster has been averted and it is testimony to the excellent work of all the response teams involved". 

Sir Ed Davey continued, "Having been to Hull and East Ridng over the years it has been great to visit Beverley and to support Mike on the run up to the elections".

Councillor Mike Ross mentioned, "We are enjoying getting around Hull and East Yorkshire, putting our case forward. We are strong across the area and look to a good campaign ahead, knocking on doors to answer any questions and listen to what local people have to say. If I am elected as Mayor, I am in a great place and ready to hit the ground running".

Sir Ed added, "I am sure that if Councillor Mike Ross is elected he will be a great champion for the area and will deliver great results in attracting investment and opportunities to the region".
