Sewerby Hall brings back its popular podcasts!
Wed 3rd February 2021The ‘’Into the Picture’ podcasts from Sewerby Hall and Gardens are back for 2021!
Education officer Robert Chester is now producing fortnightly podcasts, inspired by the various rooms in the house.
The first podcast of the year was released today (Wednesday 3 February) and tells of the Drawing Room, and the day that the Suffragists came to tea in 1912.
The then owners of Sewerby Hall, the Lloyd Greame family, received a deputation from the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies in late December, 1912. The podcast reveals the outcome of their meeting, which was part of the campaign to secure the vote for women.
Robert Chester explained : “It is of course disappointing that the national situation means that we still cannot welcome visitors to Sewerby Hall, but I am delighted that I can still produce these popular podcasts, which we started last year.
“For the new batch of recordings, I am going to focus on an individual room in the house, and tell its tale. There are some remarkable stories still to come!
“The next edition, in two weeks’ time, will look at the Butler’s Pantry, and tell the story of the person we know as the Battlefield Butler!”
The podcasts are released every other Wednesday on the Sewerby Hall and Gardens facebook page.
