Remembrance Sunday, which always falls on the 2nd Sunday in November, follows Armistice Day which marks the day WW1 ended at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. A 2-minute silence is held to remember all who have died during wars so that ‘the thoughts of everyone may be concentrated on reverent remembrance of the glorious dead’ as requested by King George V in 1919 when the observation was first held.
