A year in the planning and execution, The Refill Jar is now open! Located on Butcher Row, The Refill Jar is Beverley’s first dedicated eco-store, selling food, and environmentally-friendly toiletries and household products in such a way that packaging is almost eliminated!
Planet Earth and our impact on it has recently become a regular feature of popular and political discourse. A hot topic in more ways than one, the public are increasingly interested - and motivated - to reduce their footprint on the Earth.
Reducing packaging on new items, and considering the contents of the products we use are two ways to decrease this impact; The Refill Jar has got these covered. The business is family-run and at the helm are Claire and Jamie Newton-Smith supported by their children Ethan, Poppy, Isaac, Caleb and baby Alice.
The wide range of food items on offer includes grains, pasta, cereals, nuts, dried fruit, tea, coffee, and herbs and spices. You can bring along your own containers or purchase plastic free ones on the premises and fill up on your staples and favourites without filling your waste bin too! Washing up liquid and detergents as well as toiletries - toothbrushes, soap and shampoo bars - are also available. We wish everyone at The Refill Jar all the best for 2020!
