The King’s Award for Voluntary Service aims to recognise outstanding work by local volunteer groups to support their communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate Her Majesty The late Queen’s Golden Jubilee and was continued following the accession of His Majesty The King. 2024 marks the second year of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

In addition, two volunteers from Fitmums and Friends attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace in May 2025, along with other recipients of this year’s Award.

Sam Barlow BEM, Founder and Chief Officer of Fitmums & Friends, said:

“I am absolutely thrilled that Fitmums & Friends has been recognised with this incredible award. It is such an honour and a wonderful way of paying tribute to the commitment of our volunteers who help change people's lives by improving health and well-being through activity.”

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service was created in 2002 for The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and continued by His Majesty The King. It is awarded annually on 14th November, The King’s birthday.
