Peter Taylor Memorial Road Race
Mon 7th June 2021Sunday 6th June 2021 - 10 am start for the Peter Taylor Memorial Road Race.
Always a well contested event, the road race brought some of the top riders out to compete for the Peter Taylor Memorial Trophy. With a field full of the top riders from around the region, victory went to Jamie Ridehalgh, winner of the category 2/3/4.
Starting out of North Newbald at 10am on a bright Sunday morning, the conditions were good for a close competitive race. Riders had to do 5 laps of the circuit, which looped out of North Newbald, headed South up Burgate, East along Littlewood Road, North down the short stretch of Wold Road, West towards North Newbald, along Walkington Heads leading into Beverley Road, left up Townend Road, and up Burgate to the finish line (after 5 laps of the circuit).
The undulating circuit is quite a favourite with local riders, and Jamie Ridehaigh proved too much to handle on the day, coming in in 1hr 40 minutes.
