Over 50 apprenticeships available with East Riding College
Tue 26th May 2015Young people who are keen to get into work can apply for more than 50 apprenticeship vacancies at a series of East Riding College events next month.
Dedicated recruitment events are being held in Bridlington, Beverley and Hull to meet unprecedented demand for new staff from over 20 East Yorkshire employers.
They will be an opportunity for 16 to 24-year-olds to apply, be interviewed and shortlisted for a wide variety of opportunities across the region.
They include jobs in roles such as graphic design, business administration, engineering, hair and beauty, catering, butchery and warehouse, and are on offer in areas from Bridlington to Shiptonthorpe to Hull.
Rachael Owen, the College’s business development manager, said: “This is the perfect time of year for young people to apply to become an apprentice as many are about to leave school or finish their current course.
“These events are an opportunity to find out more about each apprenticeship, take part in a quick interview and put yourself forward for genuine vacancies with employers who are looking for new staff right now.”
She added: “Apprentices are an excellent way to start your career and to gain the skills and experience which are essential to your CV.
“We have so many examples of apprentices who have flourished in the workplace with the support and guidance of their employer and East Riding College.”
Apprenticeships are work-based courses which involve learning and gaining qualifications while working for an employer, and are available in more than 200 subjects.
An apprentice works at the employer's premises, gaining practical experience and skills while working towards a level two or three qualification which is relevant to their job.
They will normally work full-time with the employer, with one day per week (during term-time) spent at East Riding College. However, some apprenticeships do not require college attendance and are achieved solely in the workplace.
The events will be held at East Riding College sites as follows:
June 10, 5pm to 7pm – Gallows Lane, Beverley
June 17, 4pm to 6pm – St Mary’s Walk, Bridlington
June 24, 4pm to 6pm – St James Street, Hull
Anyone attending the events is advised to bring along a CV. For more information about the apprenticeship vacancies, go to www.eastridingcollege.ac.uk/apps or call 0845 120 0037.
