East Riding of Yorkshire Council is recruiting ceremonies officers, to oversee weddings, civil ceremonies, and other non-religious life events during the week and weekends.
Ceremonies officers guide and support couples in planning both the legal and ceremonial aspects of their big day, ensuring everything runs smoothly. They complete legal formalities and maintain the dignity of each ceremony, while being vigilant in reporting any sham, forced, or predatory ceremonies.
East Riding council is seeking enthusiastic, diplomatic, team players who love meeting new people and excel at making others feel comfortable, while playing a key role in creating special moments for couples. Recruitment is open until Wednesday 12 March.
There will be a recruitment information event at Champney Treasure House in Beverley, on Saturday 8 March at 11am, to provide potential candidates a chance to learn about the role and meet the team.
Qualifications or previous experience are not required for the role, with the council providing comprehensive training for officiants. The role is ideal for individuals with customer service experience and those who are confident with public speaking.
There will be assessment days, for shortlisted candidates, at venues in Bridlington, Goole, and Beverley.
Councillor Nigel Wilkinson, East Riding of Yorkshire cabinet member for finance and governance said “This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the community and helping people have meaningful ceremonies. With flexible working hours and a dynamic work environment, I encourage interested applicants to find out more about how they can get involved.”
