A new mayor was elected to Beverley this week.
Mayor Peter Astell was awarded the title at the town’s Mayor Making event on Monday 18 May, following a vote from newly elected town councillors.
Mr Astell won his seat as a Labour councillor for Minster Ward North as part of the town’s local elections earlier this month.
His son, Tom Astell, was also elected as a Labour councillor for St Mary’s East Ward, and at 19 is the youngest town councillor in Beverley’s election history.
