New bus adverts raise awareness of support available for Domestic Abuse victims in the East Riding
Thu 15th February 2024A new campaign of bus advertising in the East Riding is raising awareness of Domestic Abuse and the help available from the Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership (DVAP) in supporting victims.
The adverts are on a number of East Yorkshire Buses, based at various locations across the East Riding, and will be visible until 10 March.
The message on the adverts is that Domestic Abuse can affect anyone – those feeling frightened by a partner, an ex, or a family member, or feeling hurt or controlled, are encouraged to call for confidential advice and support.
Councillor Leo Hammond, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Cabinet member for planning, communities and public protection, said : “We have heard from people in our Lived Experience Network of survivors of Domestic Abuse that many people do not know about the vital service offered by DVAP, so these bus adverts are a great way to raise its profile.
“These buses get out into the more rural parts of the East Riding, where we know that victims of Domestic Abuse can be even more isolated, and struggle to find the information they need.
“We have also been making sure that we have posters and leaflets about the DVAP service in many places across the East Riding.
“My personal message is this: if you are a victim of Domestic Abuse, or you are concerned for a friend or family member, there is confidential advice and support available. Please do contact DVAP on 01482 396368 or go online to find out more, or report your concern.”
DVAP can be contacted on 01482 396368 or online at: https://www.ersab.org.uk/news/dvap-resources/
