National Safeguarding Adults Week
Tue 19th November 2019Safeguarding is everyone’s business and to help work better together residents are being encouraged to know the different types of abuse as part of National Safeguarding Adults Week from 18-24 November.
The week aims to raise awareness of the different forms of abuse and the part that everyone can play in helping to spot abuse.
Often those suffering abuse or neglect do not realise or want to admit that they are a victim and so it is crucial that the awareness of these issues is raised so that people can be safeguarded appropriately.
The following events have been organised to help raise awareness of abuse in adults:
Monday, 18 November East Riding Leisure Goole (10am-1pm)
Tuesday, 19 November East Riding Leisure Beverley (11am-2pm) and Pocklington Market Place (Healthwatch) (10am-4pm)
Thursday, 21 November East Riding Leisure Withernsea (10am-1pm)
Friday, 22 November East Riding Leisure Haltemprice (1-3pm)
Residents are invited to visit a session to find out more about the work of the East Riding Safeguarding Adults Board, pick up a leaflet or discuss different types of abuse issues.
Residents can also use the national week to identify key safeguarding issues and share these with people they support, run an event or training session to get up to date on the latest safeguarding news and updates, understand their responsibilities in safeguarding adults at risk and take time out to assess their policies and practices.
