Millers Christmas Fair raises £2,000
Wed 3rd December 2014Festive items made by service users at a Beverley Day Centre have helped to raise over £2,000 at their Christmas Fair.
Millers Day Centre’s annual Christmas Fair, held at the centre on Mill Lane, featured a range of craft stalls, tombolas, cake stalls, raffles, and face painting.
Photographs taken by the day centre’s photographic group were sold at the fair as pictures, coasters and the annual Miller’s calendar.
Table decorations and wreaths made by those who attend Worklink also proved to be a big success on the day, with many people placing orders to collect items later from their Cottingham site.
The event, which is always well supported, also included a Santa’s Grotto which was run by neighbouring residential facility New House.
Town View, the adjacent respite unit, had a large stall that included a raffle, cakes and craft items.
Millers’ kitchen staff were also kept busy providing drinks and snacks throughout the day including bacon sandwiches, festive Yule logs and baked potatoes.
John Ireland, team manager at Millers Day Centre said: “The event was very well supported and the money raised exceeded all expectations.
“Millers, Town View and New House’s welfare funds benefited by over £2,000 in total, as well as the other stall holders making a good profit on the day.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported the event making it a great day for everyone.”
