Medieval Re Enactment Weekend Comes To Sewerby Hall And Gardens In May

The popular Medieval Re-enactment Weekend returns to Sewerby Hall and Gardens on Saturday, 16th to Sunday, 17th May.

Visitors will be able to meet curious characters in medieval living encampments, marvel at soldiers preparing for combat and watch engaging battle sequences throughout the day.

There will also be the opportunity to engage in medieval kitchen demonstrations, craft displays, fashion workshops, dramatic archery shows and much more.

This weekend is set to be fun for all the family and is brought to Sewerby Hall and Gardens by Sir John Saviles Household.

Timetable of events throughout the day:
10.30am, Event opens
11am, Archery display and talk
1.30pm, Mummers style play
3pm, Combat display and talk, foot soldiers, bill drill
4pm, Event closes

Normal living history activities are still taking place throughout the day at Sewerby Hall House.

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: ‘’This event is one of the highlights of our spring programme, bringing families together for a fun celebration of medieval activities.

‘’From live demonstrations to archery and crafting, we look forward to seeing everyone come along and take part in this unique experience.’’

The Clock Tower Café will be open and serving a variety of food and drink for those who requires a refreshment during the event.

Standard admission charges to Sewerby Hall and Gardens apply.

Sewerby Hall House is open 11am - 4.30pm (last admission 4pm) and the zoo is open 10am - 4.30pm (last admission 4pm).
