MAKE IT A MAGICAL CHRISTMAS WITH THE SNOWMAN AT BEVERLEY MINSTER

This Christmas, Beverley Minster welcomes back Carrot Productions, the world’s leading performers of The Snowman film with live orchestra.

“We’re so delighted to be returning to Beverley to perform The Snowman again this year” said Rachel Whibley of Carrot Productions. “Last year’s shows in the stunning Minster proved to be some of the most moving and memorable, thanks to the splendour and sanctuary of the setting, but also thanks to the warmth of the local people.”

Set in the stunning surroundings of Beverley Minster, the performance offers much more than just a viewing of the beloved animated movie.

Opening with a toe-tapping Christmas Medley, there follows a fun musical tour of the orchestra, offering audience members young and old the opportunity to see and hear the instruments individually. And there will even be a visit from The Snowman himself!

The orchestra includes top musicians handpicked from some of the UK’s finest orchestras, such as The Hallé and the BBC Philharmonic. The performance features a local soloist, singing the haunting Walking in the Air solo which lies at the heart of The Snowman.

The programme also features A Donkey’s Tale, a specially created animation by Carrot Productions. Set amidst the wild landscape of Connemara in the west of Ireland, the film tells the story of Dillon the donkey, who has a dream to make music.

With accompanying narration and musical score by Daniel Whibley, it has become a firm family favourite.

Daniel Whibley said “I wanted the music to be the star of the piece, with the addition of traditional folk instruments such as the bodhrán and low whistle conjuring up the unique feel and mood of a special part of Ireland.”
