Local appeal launched to support charitable activity in response to Coronavirus

The Coronavirus Community Fund was launched yesterday (18th March 2020) by Two Ridings Community Foundation to support community groups across North & East Yorkshire through this unprecedented time.
The focus of the fund will be to offer community organisations emergency funding to deal with emerging issues in the community as a result of the continuing threat of coronavirus. Funds will be used to help community organisations that are responding to give help to the people who need it the most. It will also support work to fill gaps for people and places where there are no current suitable services and offer vital community support to maintain some level of viability through these uncertain times. From reaching out to groups we fund we know there is a real need for this kind of support right now.

Two Ridings Community Foundation is also continuing its crisis support to the people and communities affected by flooding in July 2019 (affecting homes, farms and businesses in Arkengarthdale, Swaledale & Wensleydale) and February 2020
(affecting homes and businesses in Masham, Boroughbridge, Snaith, East Cowick, Hirst Courtney, Temple Hirst and West Bank).

The Foundation’s core purpose is to support the grassroots groups that do so much good in our communities so it seemed totally right that we focus on finding ways to support them now. In these times, it is important that we look out for one another and stand shoulder to shoulder with people and communities in the way that we do best which is funding. We will be working from home but have good systems in place to keep the organisation doing what it does best – finding funds and ways to support people and communities in North & East Yorkshire.
