Last week of 'Good people' at East Riding Theatre
Mon 19th March 2018Adrian Rawlins' directed play 'Good People' by David Lindsay-Abaire is in its final week at East Riding Theatre. The play has been greeted with fabulous reviews!
Will Ramsay in 'The Stage' said: 'Adrian Rawlins’ staging does an excellent job of teasing apart the play’s themes – the desire to escape a tough background – while harnessing the rhythms of the script. The accents sound authentic, to these ears at least, and Lindsay-Abaire’s gloriously cascading lines – tales of Southie’s eccentric citizens, the feuds and the tough truths of their lives – ripple along as naturally as banter in a pub.'
We said: 'Witty, sassy, brassy and totally absorbing' (Linda Johnson).
Ron Simpson in The Reviews Hub said: "East Riding Theatre doesn’t have such luxuries as wing space or a fly tower, but Ed Ullyart conveys locations simply and effectively with the help of versatile flats and muscle power – and we concentrate on an excellent piece of actors’ theatre."
Rachael Popow in Yorkshire Magazine says: "Director Adrian Rawlins expertly balances the laughs with the revelations, and proves that Good People’s class issues are as relevant to Beverley as they are to Boston."
