Kids go Wild in the East Riding this summer!
Fri 26th July 2019The Kids go Wild programme run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s countryside access team is back for summer 2019, with events across the area throughout the school holidays.
The Yorkshire Wolds village of Goodmanham will host the first event on Friday, 26 July, with a Geocaching Treasure Hunt. This will be a chance to use a GPS Unit to follow the Yorkshire Wolds Way along the rail trail and through the village. Participants can choose to finish off at the Fiddle Drill tearooms.
The event will be from 10am – 2pm, and will cover around three miles. It will start at the tearooms but participants should park in the village car park. The event costs £5 per group (up to six people), and each group will have use of a GPS Unit. Booking is essential.
There will be a Butterfly Safari at Humber Bridge Country Park on Tuesday, 30 July, a chance to take part in the Big Butterfly Count and enjoy making colourful butterflies to take home, with wildlife artist Michele Davy. This event is suitable for children, accompanied by an adult.
There will be two sessions: 10am-12noon, or 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Participants should meet at the Hessle Foreshore entrance next to the Black Mill car park. Tickets cost £2.50 per child, with accompanying adults free. Booking is essential.
On Thursday, 1 August, there will be a Bumble Bee Safari at Beverley Parks Local Nature Reserve, off Long Lane in Beverley, a chance to spot bumble bees and honey bees, and make a crafty bee to take home, with wildlife artist Michele Davy.
