KCOM ROLLS OUT LIGHTSTREAM ACROSS THE AREA

Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, met with Sean Royce, the Managing Director of KCOM to talk about its broadband services in Beverley and Holderness.

Thanks to KCOM’s £85m full fibre rollout, its whole Hull and East Yorkshire network should now have access to FTTP Lightstream broadband, reaching approximately 200,000 homes.

Following the meeting Graham commented “I still receive complaints about KCOM’s monopoly in some areas of Beverley and Holderness but the really good news is that all my constituents connected to the KCOM network can now have world-class full-fibre ultrafast broadband connectivity if they choose to sign up for it. This is most important as ever more people rely on very fast broadband for work, education and recreation. It helps cement our area’s reputation as a leading digital hub for the UK. KCOM’s delivery of ultrafast fibre direct to every home and business on its network provides real benefits. The challenge is now to build on this progress in the more rural areas of my constituency and I urged Sean Royce to focus on this.

“I  welcome that the Government has introduced the Universal Service Obligation which will give everyone the legal right to request a connection to high speed broadband. Eligible consumers will be able to request a connection under the Universal Service Obligation by the end of this year.”
