Huge crowds go really really wild at the Treasure House in Beverley

Staff at the Treasure House in Beverley are celebrating the success of the Really Really Wild Day held on Saturday (18 February) - a stunning total of 2500 people visited the event, which featured Ben Shires from CBBC; a chance to see and interact with a polar bear; handle and learn about a range of animals; and be entertained by Professor Bumble the Badger and Headmistress Miss Nutella Nutkins of the Acorn Academy with their little gyspy cart.
The event was the first in a series to accompany the Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibition which is at Beverley Art Gallery until 22 April.
Museums manager Nial Adams said: “We have never seen quite such a large number of people visiting the Treasure House on one day, and the feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive.
“I hope it will encourage even more people to come and see the Wildlife Photographer exhibition, the other events that go with it, and our other exciting events later in the year linked to Hull UK City of Culture 2017.”
There is a range of fun family events, fascinating talks and captivating workshops to support this free, world-renowned exhibition.
Other highlights of the events programme linked to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition will include :
Photography workshops with, and talks by, award-winning wildlife photographer Steve Race
Award-winning wildlife photographer George Stoyle talking about photography in conservation and research
Making Crazy Cardboard Critters, and homes for bugs
The BigBuzz Family Photography Workshop with Anneliese Emmans Dean.
