Holiday Activities and Food this summer – give your ideas!
Fri 17th May 2024Planning is underway for the Summer Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council wants to hear from families about what children and young people would like to do in the summer holidays as part of the HAF programme.
Funded by the Department for Education, HAF is primarily for children who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals, or those who have an education, health and care plan.
Activities are diverse, ranging from dance, music, arts and crafts to walking with donkeys and goats, preparing dinner on a campfire to climbing towers and zorb football. All programmes are inclusive, but there are also some sessions specifically for SEND children and young people.
Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education said: "The Holiday Activities and Food programme is always a fabulous mix of free events for our children and young people. This Easter children in East Riding attended over 3000 places on activity sessions run by 31 different providers.
“To help us to keep developing what we offer, we want to hear from families about the type of activity sessions they’d like, and where they’d like them to happen across the summer holidays.”
Parents and carers can give their ideas for holiday activities through a short survey: https://consultation.eastriding.gov.uk/s/ERYC_HAF/
It is open until 31 May and 50 families will be picked at random to receive love to shop vouchers.
