Hemingway Bailey top for apprentices
Fri 14th November 2014Hemingway Bailey Ltd has been recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, which is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds and recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices.
The list was announced at the National Apprenticeship Awards, which took place during The Skills Show in Birmingham on 13 November. The Skills Show has City & Guilds as its premier sponsor, and is a unique celebration to inspire people with exciting opportunities in further education, skills and apprenticeships.
After a tough selection process, the most exceptional apprenticeship employers from all National Apprenticeship Awards employer categories were chosen to feature in the list, which showcases the breadth of employers who now offer apprenticeships.
Hemingway Bailey Ltd, Chartered Management Accountants in Beverley, recognises the importance of giving young people opportunities to develop, and currently employs two apprentices. The practice places great emphasis on the training of its team and apprentices gain responsibility quickly, being exposed to such business situations as presentations and networking from early in their training.
Commenting on the company’s entry in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer’s list, Hemingway Bailey Director, Alan Hemingway, said: “We are delighted to receive this accolade as a company but we are even more pleased to know that our apprentices are developing into future business leaders and business owners after being given the opportunity to reach their full potential whilst being invaluable members of our team.
“One of our 12 points of culture is helping young people to achieve, and it is really pleasing to become one of the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers in recognition of this.”
Evie Molloy, an apprentice at Hemingway Bailey, was named Apprentice of the Year for the Yorkshire and the Humber region at the National Apprenticeship Awards ceremony in Leeds in September. Evie has set up her own company – MixEd – which aims to use the skills and knowledge from her apprenticeship to help others of similar ages.
Evie said: “I know that I am a valued member of the team at Hemingway Bailey and that has given my confidence a massive boost. I have achieved so much more than I could have ever imagined during my apprenticeship and I hope that my learning journey will continue in the same way.”
Deputy Prime Minster Nick Clegg congratulated Hemingway Bailey Ltd on being named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer. He said: “This year’s Top 100 Apprenticeship employers have demonstrated the huge impact on the young people they invest in and the many benefits for their organisations.
“Apprenticeships help employers develop a skilled and qualified workforce to build a stronger economy, whilst creating a fairer society where young people can get on and go far in some of Britain’s best companies.
“I would encourage more businesses across England to follow these shining examples and find out how apprenticeships can help them build a skilled, motivated and highly qualified workforce.”
CEO and director general of City & Guilds, Chris Jones, said: “It’s fantastic to celebrate the Top 100 Apprenticeships Employers. They should be proud of their role in helping people gain the skills they need to be successful. After all, apprenticeships are a great way for people to earn as they learn, and they bring countless benefits to businesses.”
