Graham Stuart MP welcomes £88.5 million pound investment in the Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership
Tue 11th December 2018Last week it was announced that the Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership had secured £88.5 million of funding to help improve emergency care and diagnostic testing in the area.
The £88.5 million from NHS England will go to the following hospitals:
Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby - £29.3 million (Grimsby and Scunthorpe)
Scunthorpe General Hospital - See above
Hull Royal Infirmary - £19.3 million
Scarborough Hospital - £40 million
This money is to enable the Emergency Departments in all four hospitals to be upgraded and meet modern standards. At Hull Royal Infirmary the £19.3 million investment will be used to purchase new MRI and CT scanners, as well as additional scoping capabilities in order to speed up A&E patient treatment times.
Graham Stuart MP commented: “I am pleased that Hull Royal Infirmary is receiving an additional £19.3 million worth of funding to help speed up times at its hospitals’ A&E departments.
“Many constituents in Beverley and Holderness have been in contact with me regarding their concerns about A&E waiting times at Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI). I am sure this money will be well received by the hard-working staff at HRI and help them to provide even better patient care at a faster pace. I will raise this issue with hospital staff when I visit HRI in the new year.
“This money is a further example of how the Government is 100% committed to funding our NHS and ensuring that it has the money it needs to provide free at the point of use care for all in the United Kingdom.”
Mike Proctor, Chair of the Humber, Coast and Vale Strategic Estates Board and Chief Executive of York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “This is great news for local people across our region. We are delighted to have secured this much-needed cash for our local hospitals in Scarborough, Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Hull, which play such an important role in meeting the needs of local people.
“This extra funding will enable us to improve our emergency department and help more people to get the diagnostic tests they need more quickly.”
