Get Into Golf At Flemingate Success
Fri 26th August 2016Beverley and East Riding Golf Club P.G.A. professional Stewart Fraser and P.G.A. trainee Micheal Durcan hosted an afternoon of golfing fun at the Beverley Flemingate development on Friday 26th August.
The main inspiration for this event was Justin Rose and his role in the Olympics, in hope that children will become more inspired and interested at a younger age. The afternoon was a great success with more than sixteen children participating in the first hour.
Stewart Fraser told Just Beverley "we thought it would be a fun way to introduce golf into the community, and for this first event, Flemingate were happy to provide the area in front of Parkway Cinema and East Riding College."
They hope that with this event, golf will be considered a sport as part in the school curriculum, just like football and rugby. Stewart and Micheal will be hosting a range of events like this in the future at venues to be decided around Beverley and district. Stewart also told Just Beverley "I'd love to do this at the Saturday market place in the near future to make it accessible for more people".
Stewart and Michael are looking to provide a teaching academy for golf in the local primary schools next year.
Beverley Golf Club have seen a number of new initiatives at the facility on the Westwood, which includes the introduction of new caterers, Steve and Jane Royale, along with a new golf studio and new coaching facilities. The P.G.A. provide coaching for juniors and adults, who may be interested in trying golf as a new hobby.
