Futures + launches expanded service to support more young people in the East Riding
Wed 4th October 2023Futures + is expanding to be able to support more young people across East Riding.
The service opened in 2010 supporting young people with a learning disability or autism and helping to prepare them for adulthood. The new expanded service will now also support young people with a physical disability, sensory impairment, or mental health needs. Futures + will be involved with young people from age 14, where this was previously from age 17, working with partner organisations and overseeing transfers to adult services.
An additional nine staff will help deliver the support to prepare young people for adulthood, with a focus on education, employment, accommodation and health.
On Tuesday 3 October a launch event of the re-designed service is taking place at Beverley Leisure Centre, between 10am and 3pm. The event provides an opportunity for young people and their families to find out more about what the Futures + service will now offer – with a range of organisations on hand to speak to and ask questions.
Cara Petch, Future + Service Manager said: “We are delighted that Futures + is now able to support even more young people as they transition from childhood into adulthood. The team are dedicated to supporting young people to achieve their goals, whilst working with partners to ensure the required support is in place. We know that the right support can have a real impact on the lives of young people.
“I would encourage any young person, parent or carer to pop along to our event to learn more about what we offer, and how we can help.”
