FLAMBOROUGH FIRE FESTIVAL IS BACK!
Fri 16th December 2022Yes, the Flamborough Fire Festival is back this year!... with plans to be one of the biggest and best ever!
With a new Start time of 8pm the Festival will start with a burst of fireworks and flaming fireballs to celebrate the return of the Vikings to Flamborough. So, don’t be late... make sure you arrive before 8pm to get the best view!
The Flamborough Fire Festival is, once again, taking place on New Year’s Eve when the village will be besieged by strong, handsome invaders led by King Canute who, having sailed across the North Sea from Norway and Denmark, will take the Festival and village by storm! Flamborough will be a blaze of celebration with fireballs, fire torches, fireworks and Viking music and drums!
Also, new this year is the availability of online tickets… which everyone can buy now from the Festival website on – www.flamboroughfirefestival.org
Tickets cost only £15 which gives you everything… including access to the Festival Arena, Flamborough Fireballs, your Viking Torch and participation in the Viking Longship and Torchlight Procession! Or, for £10 you can buy a Festival Ticket giving you access to the Festival Arena and grounds.
The Festival welcomes everyone and encourages all children, friends and families to take part in the Viking Torchlight Procession and Longship Parade. The event will also feature the Strongest Viking Challenge and Battle for Flamborough. Also coming back is the Viking Costume Competition with prizes awarded to the best dressed Vikings – children and adults! It’s going to be a fantastic night out for the Vikings and for all the family.
This year will also feature Ragnar’s Encampment and a Viking Mead Hall to keep everyone cosy throughout the night. So, Flamborough definitely is the place to be on New Year’s Eve!
With the event now in its sixth year, sadly having been cancelled for two years due to covid19, it has attracted more than 20,000 visitors from all over the world who love getting into the spirit of the occasion! The Festival is a wonderful and unusual way to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Jane Emmerson, the Festival Organiser, said “this year the Festival will be bigger and better than ever… with an amazing Torchlight Procession with 1,200 Viking fire torches of which you can purchase online at the Festival’s website, over thirty Flamborough Fireballs in action, and an even bigger fireworks display set to music! The Viking Longship will be pulled around the village green, led by King Canute and his handsome Viking warriors and shield maidens, followed by the Torchlight Procession with everyone taking part! It’s going to be a fantastic night in Flamborough. We hope everyone will come along and join in all the fun! Everyone is very welcome”.
The Festival starts at the new time of 8pm in the Festival Arena, Mereside, Flamborough, YO15 1LA on New Year’s Eve - Saturday 31st December 2022 with pulling of the Viking Longship, Flamborough Fireballs, World’s strongest Viking and a Torchlight Procession followed by a Fireworks Spectacular to finish! So come along and celebrate the New Year with us at Flamborough!
Each year the Flamborough Fire Festival is held in aid of local community groups and charities. All children, 15 years and under and adults, in full Viking Costume, are welcome at the Festival and allowed in for Free! All other visitors are encouraged to purchase a Festival ticket online at the Festival Website or please bring cash on the night to get in at the gate.
